Nowadays, FLV files are extremely popular. A proof of this is the fact that websites like YouTube, MySpace or Facebook Video are using this format. Its quality is not out of the ordinary, but the size makes it ideal for spreading over the Internet. Moreover, due to its small size, the upload and download is done very fast. Thanks to its popularity, the number of FLV encoders and converters is rising more and more. Due to these programs, playing YouTube videos by using multimedia devices is a piece of cake, as they can convert FLV files into AVI, MPG or MOV formats. One of such type of software is GetFLV. As its name suggests, it's a program for downloading and manipulating FLV files from the Internet.
Installation is very simple and completes fast. The system requirements are modest and allow running the app on older computers without facing any problems.
The interface of the program is nice and pleasant and supports two skins, namely the default one which resembles Windows 7 and the other, the Mac style. All the controls and options are in the right place and the program is organized into various sections, according to their designation. The first step is actually a small web browser that allows the user to browse video sites and look for a desired clip. The program is compatible with a large number of video sites. Every video clip contained by a certain web page is automatically captured by GetFLV and the user can easily download it.
After choosing to download a certain captured video clip, the user is taken to the next section of the program, which refers to downloading and converting the FLV. The clips can be downloaded in the format they were originally uploaded to the site or they can be easily converted into various formats, depending on the multimedia devices that will play them.
The program doesn't limit to just downloading and converting online videos, as it can also convert video files stored on the PC and can even extract the audio part of this file and save it into various audio formats, thus being recognized by most of the audio players available on the market.
Besides converted into video or audio formats, FLV files stored on the PC can also be fixed, in case they were badly downloaded, due to a bad Internet connection or a lousy video web site. Thus, it can fix seeking errors that appear very often in some video files.
The options section of GetFLV allows setting the desired path for saving video and audio files and also enabling the auto previewing of a selected downloading video.

The conversion is done very fast and the quality of the resulting video file is identical to the one of the web site video. Besides that, the program can automatically capture FLV files from video web sites.
